About the Assessment Network
The Technical Assessment Network consists of people with a range of skills and experience across the agricultural (RD&E) space, with specific skills listed above.
The Technical Assessment Network has been established to provide technical investment advice and recommendations especially to AgriFutures Australia. AgriFutures Australia will use this advice in its investment in RD&E within the AgriFutures Rice Program.
An induction package will be provided by AgriFutures Australia to new Technical Assessment Network members with their services agreement that includes information about AgriFutures Australia, its role, objectives, strategies, policies and procedures and information about the relevant RD&E program and activities.
Technical Assessment Network member roles & responsibilities
The core function of the Technical Assessment Network is to assist the AgriFutures Rice Program by:
- Advising and providing recommendations on applications for RD&E funding.
- Providing advice on the robustness and appropriateness of technical components of projects/programs of research, development and extension, including project proposals and project outputs.
- Forming part of selected assessment panels for AgriFutures Australia investment calls.
The scope of the Network does not include governance recommendations, this is carried out by a separate committee (Rice Management Committee), or operational activities such as procurement or project management.
Activities of the Program are funded by Commonwealth appropriations. Network members that are eligible, are recompensed for their services to AgriFutures Australia at rates determined by the Commonwealth’s Remuneration Tribunal.
It is estimated a time of commitment of up to 20 days within a twelve-month period should be expected for a member. Members of the Technical Assessment Network will be called upon at various times depending on the skill set required for each activity, therefore, individual Network members may be required for differing amounts of time in a twelve-month period.
The term of appointment of Network members will be initially for 12 months, with a maximum of three consecutive terms being applicable to any members, at AgriFutures discretion.
